Established in 1950 alongside the University of Peshawar, the Central Library has grown from a modest reading room into a modern multi-floor facility housing over 200,000 volumes, digital repositories, and state-of-the-art research infrastructure.
Our holdings span print books, periodicals, newspapers, government documents, rare manuscripts, maps, microforms, and 5,800+ digitised theses and dissertations β all discoverable through the integrated Koha and DSpace systems.
The library runs Koha LMS (v23.11) for circulation and cataloguing, DSpace for institutional digital archiving, and provides access to HEC-subscribed databases including Springer, Elsevier, JSTOR, IEEE, and more via dedicated reading room terminals.
A dedicated team of qualified librarians, cataloguers, and support staff is available during all working hours to assist with reference queries, research support, inter-library loans, and digital resource training.
All registered students, faculty, and staff of the University of Peshawar are eligible for free library membership. Bring your university ID card to the Library Help Desk to activate your borrowing privileges.
Students may borrow 2 books, Faculty 3 books, and Non-Teaching staff 2 books at a time.
